Homelessness Can Happen to Anyone

Precarity does not only affect people with the greatest challenges. All too often, a series of unfortunate events can leave someone quite literally alone, needing a hand up to get back on their feet. Homelessness really can happen to anyone.

In this short video, we hear from Ray, a Breaking Ground tenant at our Prince George residence in Manhattan. Ray is a survivor. After a thirty-year career in construction, an operation left him disabled, his relationship fell apart, and he lost everything. He spent two long cold winters living unsheltered near a park in Queens. With Breaking Ground's help, he found himself again.

When you give to Breaking Ground, you are helping people overcome and avoid homelessness. There is a direct connection between housing and health. And having a safe, stable home can make all the difference for people who have experienced only instability in their lives. Every day, we are working toward a future where everyone has a home. Thanks to you, we are building and restoring lives no matter what comes our way.
