Philip Silverman, Senior Vice President at North Shore-LIJ Health System, Joins Common Ground Board

NEW YORK – Common Ground, New York City’s largest supportive housing developer and manager, announced that Philip Silverman has joined its Board of Directors. Mr. Silverman is Senior Vice President for Facilities and Real Estate at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System, where he is responsible for real estate and the physical planning, design and construction throughout the health system.

“Phil has deep experience in New York real estate with extensive involvement in developments that consider needs of unique populations, from planning and negotiations to implementation, as well as a commitment to helping underserved New Yorkers. We are very excited to welcome Phil to Common Ground’s Board of Directors,” said Brenda Rosen, Executive Director of Common Ground.

“As Common Ground expands its supportive and affordable housing portfolio in New York City, I am thrilled that we will have Phil’s guidance and expertise at the table. He will be a great addition to the Board,” said Jamie Rubin, President and Chair of Common Ground’s Board of Directors.

Before joining North Shore-LIJ, Mr. Silverman served as Vice President for Real Estate at Columbia University, where he spearheaded the real estate assemblage for Columbia’s 6.8 million square foot campus expansion in Manhattanville, as well as overseeing all aspects of the university’s real estate portfolio. He led a team responsible for negotiating transactions, off campus development and construction, and lease management and relationships where the university was a commercial landlord or tenant.

Prior to that, Mr. Silverman was Senior Vice President at Newmarket Development Corp., where he was responsible for developing commercial and retail space, office buildings and industrial facilities located throughout the Northeast. He received his J.D. from Touro College and a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University.
