Good Art for a Good Cause

Colorful paintings and collages mounted on easels and ready for a live auction weren’t the only attractions at a recent Common Ground event. On February 27, 2014, donors and new friends of Common Ground gathered in support of our mission to view one of New York’s renowned private contemporary art collections in a spectacular Upper East Side residence.

The home itself was yet another work of art. Alexander Gorlin – the architect responsible for Common Ground’s The Brook and Boston Road residences - shared with guests how he had transformed the post-war modernist gem into an AIA NYC Landmark Townhouse. Hosts Lisa Roumell and Mark Rosenthal warmly welcomed guests with tours of their remarkable collection.

For the uninitiated, the night included an introduction to Common Ground by board members Peter Ezersky and Jamie Rubin. Guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres from Thomas Preti Caterers and a live auction by charismatic Christie’s auctioneer Robbie Gordy. Proceeds from the auction benefited both local artists and Common Ground’s housing programs.
