Cuomo announces $20B for homeless services and housing, in State of the State address

In Wednesday’s 2016 State of the State address, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a $20 billion plan for affordable housing, supportive units, emergency shelter beds, and other homeless services.

As New York’s largest provider of supportive housing, Breaking Ground was extremely pleased with the news.

“Governor Cuomo’s commitment today of 20,000 new supportive housing units over the next 15 years, including 6,000 in the next five, will give thousands of homeless New Yorkers a second chance at life. At Breaking Ground, we see supportive housing transform lives every single day. We thank Governor Cuomo for his leadership and dedication to helping the most vulnerable and at-risk New Yorkers who will now have safe, stable, affordable homes and access to the critical support services they need to succeed.”
